Co2 Fire Extinguishers
The Co2 Fire Extinguisher is the most common type of fire extinguisher you will see around the office, it is widely known as the electrical extinguisher as it is ideal for fires involving machinery and more commonly available computers.
The Co2 Extinguisher is light (2kg version) to lift & carry and is a clean searching agent, being an inert gas it will penetrate into inaccessible areas such as electrical equipment or machinery and displace the oxygen.
The Co2 is available as a hand held fire extinguisher in the most common size of 2kg (pictured here) is around 5kg in total weight, and the heavier version of 5kg (around 11kg in weight) the heavier 5kg versions are quite rare front of house or office extinguishers as they are mostly located around lift motor rooms, generator rooms, power intake rooms, garage workshops etc.
The 2kg version comes as standard now with a frost free swivel horn attached, this aids the user to lightly hold the horn in the direction of the fire during use whilst reducing the potential risk of receiving a freeze burn to the hand. Those extinguishers not fitted with a frost free horn normally have a hazard warning label attached to warn the user of possible freeze burns.
